New HJ knife collector.
I am new to collecting HJ knives and would like to know what I should be looking for.
I have done a little research on the differances between time periods, but I know that as with all third reich militaria there are probably hundreds of fakes and would like to know if there are known fakes and what to look out for.
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Dave

Re: New HJ knife collector.
Thanks Dan.
I have seen this site and it has been pretty informative.
This ,however, is the only info I can find.
Do you know of any other sources of info?
I had purchased a Puma transitional with motto.
I was so excited to get it that I overlooked the fact that the grip plate opposite the diamond was actually a bayonet grip that had been reshaped to fit the knife.
I should have noticed that the rivets were loose, but I guess most need to get burned at least once before you start to look for the little details.

Re: New HJ knife collector.
A good reference book also help's, dont be worried in paying good money for one as these books could save you a small fortune. Handle as many as you can, i personally try to keep to dealers who i trust and if one comes up cheap!! ther is usually a very good reason why, and last but not least post a pic on this forum there are a great bunch here and are all very welcoming, with mind's full of info and experience.
P.S Welcome to the forum :0 regards Ronnie

Gott mit uns... Remember to use this site! use the search and type in HJ Dagger and a wealth of known fakes and dealers will come up.

Re: New HJ knife collector.
HJ knives have been faked since the 1960's. Do not study fakes as these are legion. Study ORIGINALS.
Cheers, Ade.
