The bayonet itself is an original private purchase parade bayonet by Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Co. However I have little faith in the SS runes carved into the grip or the Hitlerjugend Division div insignia on the hilt.

SS bayo with runes and a HJ division mark .To good to be true.Never seen anything like this in any of the dagger and edged weapons books I have.

It appears someone has taken a dress bayonet that was in condition that made it difficult to sell and added the bogus unit insignia and runes. This is not something I would want.

Oh dear....not something I've ever seen. I'm always very cautious when it comes to this kind of stuff. Would be great if it turned out to be real (the SS HJ markings) but I think somebody toke his time to pimp a dress bajo.

The above statement IMO says it nicely, along with the similar sentiments that were expressed by the others.
But it could be worse.

As I imagine that the bayonet is selling for a lot less than some other items that used some of the same techniques to try and make them more valuable. In fact a lot less. I'm referring of course to the rotary engraved emblem in the handle that was done with a much steadier hand than some other fakes (seen at comparatively astronomical prices). Also having better workmanship with the hand made runes than a very expensive different type of item of late that comes to mind - which looks to be epoxied in place with the example posted here. FP
