Picked up this s/242 today.
Hi there,
I picked up some spare parts for my MG13 today, and the seller said he had a bayonet too.
I have a few K98 bayonets, one matching, but this is particularly nice, so I was quite pleased.
The frog is very clean, and I do not have one like it.
If anyone has any opinions, other information on this I'd love to learn more.
It is all matching, blade/scabbard - 6603.
Thank you in advance, gentlemen,
Pit.

Re: Picked up this s/242 today.
On the back edge of the blade 36
On the rear of the scabbard - s/232 1936
And the frog is also marked 1936
After FLHK dtrS ? (not sure about this one)
At tip of belt loop A
At base of rear of leather Dresden 1936 below Gebruder Klinge

Nice bayonet.
FLHK = Fliegerhorst Kommandantur A Fliegerhorstkommandantur was the HQ unit of an Air Force Base (Fliegerhorst). The other lettering will be the base name.
Cheers, Ade.

No - unfortunately, I cannot read the details much more than you.
The photo actually high lights it better than in person.
I'll check again tomorrow in daylight - it's nearly 3am and I have been re-writing an assignment - so eyes are done, lol. Militaria boards are a great source procrastination.
Thank you, guys - this is great information.

Could this have been a training base and the last word is Schule ?

An airfield listed as Fliegerhorst is Swabisch Hall Hessenthal, maybe that helps ?
