That's an interesting one Toecutter. Let's cross off the easy bit's first. A rough finish bayonet blade and red bakelite grips would date this bayonet to post 1942 and probably 1943/44. I can't read that WaA number from either photo, what is it and are there any WaA stamps on the hilt?
If there are no WaA marks on the top of the hilt, and no serial number I'm leaning to a German State Authority bayonet WKC did seem to do a lot of that, though perhaps this bayonet was diverted from a WaffenAmt end of production series. It's an odd, but interesting one.

WaA253 was used in Solingen between 1935 and 1940, but everything else about the bayonet suggests it dates from around 1943. So IMO the crossguard piece is a "leftover" part used in this construction for a German State Authority contract. Rare but not impossible.

Yes, similar pieces are confirmed, some older parts were used, most real this is a 1944 WKC production, called Behoerden modell by germans, as for NS and other organisation.b.r.Andy

In agreement, a late maufacture bayonet using leftover parts that may or may not have also originally been slightly out of specification it's an interesting example. Bayonets intended for those rifle equipped forces that were not a part of the German Army/Wehrmacht, with the German Police most likely at the head of the list of possible candidates.
