The postal control censorship markings shown below, are present on letters written by two male inmates who between them, spent almost 11 years incarcerated within the camp. Both were liberated and survived their lengthy ordeal to see the day when US troops liberated the camp. Tens of thousands of others were sadly not so fortunate. Today marks the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Dachau concentration camp, the first major Konzentrationslager established by Nazi Germany.
