here are my pictures i took from last weekend

some of the torture methods were nothing short of barbaric, I never knew a lot of it went on .

there were rooms which were normal height but only approx 1metre wide and long, they would cram 4 people in these rooms and shut them in complete darkness, a lot of the time they suffocated.

they also tied peoples arms together behind their backs then hung them up by their arms , dislocating their shoulders and often causing death in one way or another.

The main Gates at Auschwitz 1

    The Staff Food halls

    The prisoner building

    The hanging posts

The "Death wall" where executions were carried out

The posts where they hung people by their arms

    Guard Tower

    zyclon B containers

hatches where gas was dropped in

    Eye piece in door

    Gas Chamber

    Hoess's House

and the point he was hanged

    Berkenau

the furnaces which burnt the bodies

the toilets, they were only allowed to go in twice a day and approx 2000 people used each building, sometimes more

    Schilnders Factory

    Ghetto monuments

    Plaszow

Really evocative photos mate, a chilling place. The photos of the suitcases and shoes are truly horrifying when you think how many lives they represent.

no problem, the shoes were very haunting, but what is scary is that what we see is only a snippet of what was taken off the poor people. and also the taking of hair for tights etc is very strange

there was a guy in our tour group who i presume had a German heritage who was trying to understand why they kept the people in such poor conditions when they wanted them for work ,

however my feeling was getting work out of them was just a bonus as their main goal was to kill them

This has got to be one of the most cruel places on Earth. But thank you for the very detailed photos.

Sad and tragic places. But it's good to keep them open to show the horrors
that went on, and for visitors to try and imagine the countless lives that
were lost. You say 'some of the torture methods were nothing short
of barbaric', but I think any and all methods were barbaric.

Thanks for showing these photos. Chilling reminders.........
    Regards,

    Steve.
