This long navy cadets dagger had an interesting owner once: Generalmajor Eckart Hans von Tschammer und Osten.
This general has been executed for warcrimes in Russia in 1946.
He started of as a navy cadet but made a switch to the army were he had an impressive career.
A lot of info about him can be found on this page:
Generalmajor Eckart von Tschammer und Osten - Lexikon der Wehrmacht
He was the brother of Hans von Tschammer und Osten the Reichssportführer wo died in 1943.
    Info:
Hans von Tschammer und Osten – Wikipedia

The reason why i have posted this dagger here in the 1933-1945 section is Obvious, this man and his brother both made a miltary or political career in the Third Reich.

The dagger itself is in pristine condition, the etch is beautiful, no shapening to the blade, its WKC marked ( lots of the students daggers are not)
It has a lovely Ivory grip with a beautiful grain pattern, the pommel is completely hand enhanced and it comes with a great portepee.
Enjoy this remarkable piece of history!

    Regards
    Ger

As Ger has pointed out to me..take notice to the hand enhancing of the pommel..all of it is very intricate.

Love the Ivory grip. Nice find my friend

This is why I love navy daggers! Just look at the handwork on this one. Just imagine how many hours of work went into that! Great find!

Interesting, how dark the portapee has toned. The ivory grip, as said, is superb without a sign of any of the commonly seen age splitting. Even without the extensive history, this would be a show piece dagger. Very nice find!
