For an Eichorn, thats a really ugly looking eagle and misshapen wreath, wonder how it got past quality control like that, or perhaps ive been spoilt with good pommels

Hi Dave, to be honest, some of these pommels are very weak in design.

    Cheers, Ade.

I know Ade, but its strange that such a lovely dagger has these kinds of pommels fitted, I believe you could have had them changed via a private purchase, as ive seen these pommels in groups , period packed, in small boxes, in the museum at Wissant, the owner also attends WAP every year and sells items, you might know him

    Hi Srs.,

    Thank you very much.
Here in Brazil, is very difficult to buy books or anything in portuguese. So I ask you to help whenever needed.
Please, could you inform what period is this dagger? What year?

    Best regards,

These daggers were not introduced until 1938. The Navy was the last of the Armed Forces to adopt a Third Reich style dagger with eagle and swastika.

This style of Carl Eickhorn makers mark was used from 1941.

    Cheers, Ade.
