Kriegsmarine dagger collection

Article about: Here's another Alcoso with hammered scabbard. This time with a beautiful orange grip. Typical for Alcoso are the hammered scabbard rings they used on all hammered scabbards. Again, like all

    Default Kriegsmarine dagger collection

Hi guys, a while ago I posted some group shots of my collection of navy daggers. Now I would like to show you the daggers in detail. I haven't finished photographing them all but here are a few to start with. I will post the rest soon. There were far less producers of the kriegsmarine dagger than for instance army and luftwaffe daggers. Not to mention the SA dagger that had over 200 producers. This is why the most navy daggers you see are made by WKC or Carl Eickhorn. Höller, Alcoso and Hörster are far less seen and any other maker than the ones I mentioned is scarce or even rare. I will start with my WKC daggers.

The first one I show is a standard white grip WKC navy dagger with lightning bolt scabbard. It has a beatifull patinaed portepee and great blade. The scabbard and pommel are typical WKC products.

The next one is a WKC dagger with hammered scabbard and orange grip. It has the 1938 replacement pommel and the early sailing ship etch on the blade. Later in the period WKC only used the fouled anchor etch. I love this one.

The next one is a WKC dagger with genuine Ivory grip. I did my best to get a good picture that showed the beauty of the grip but I am not too happy with the result. It looks way better in hand

The next WKC dagger is a beautiful orange gripped one with the fouled anchor etch on the blade. The eyelets of the hammared scabbard are hand enhanced which is typical for WKC. A very nice detail I think.

The next one is almost identical to the previous one. This one has a little more patina on the scabbard but is also in great condition.

Here's another classic WKC combination, orange grip and hammared scabbard. It is said that for every orange grip navy approxemately 100 white grip navy daggers were made. I don't understand why because I really love this combination

My last WKC has a blade that looks like it came out of the factory yesterday. Simply amazing. Enjoy the pictures of this piece of art. After this one I will continue with my Alcoso navy daggers.

The first Alcoso dagger I would like to show, I've posted here before but it certainly deserves it's place in this thread. It has a beautiful Ivory grip and all the typical features that you like to see on an Alcoso navy. For instance the diamond shape at the back of the crossguard. Unique for Alcoso daggers. Also the eyelets are typical Alcoso. You immediately recognise this when you see it. This is certainly one of my many favourite navy daggers
