Navy Pommels (Picture Proof)

Article about: Lately I have been trying to get a point across about WKC having something to do with the design and manufacture of some navy pommels used by some of the companies who produced navy daggers.

It boils down to when the Kriegsmarine dagger was first designed and as Tom Wittmann quoted

    Quote by Thomas Wittmann
: " The Larger firms such as Eickhorn, WKC, FW Holler, and Alcoso generated and produced their own " distinctive fittings " for their entire edged weapon lines. "pg 243" It is also suspected that Eickhorn introduced the design and supplied the necessary molds "pg 228 "

Eickhorn and WKC being the closest in the same detail..yet a practicing eye..will see the subtleties .

To sum this up as I think everything has been said,
Small producers = Generic parts (evident on complete daggers) = Design (of generic pommel) linked to WKC by same features = WKC as being the designer and manufacturer of these generic pommels.
Small producers used generic parts because they did not have the facilities to manufacture their own parts or the orders to make it worth their while, why else would you use them. Companies like WKC, Eickhorn, Alcoso and Holler are known to have made their own navy parts hence their own individual complete unique designs seen on their navy daggers. JMO.

    Best regards Tomaz.

Which makes sense from a manufacturing/business perspective. Also noting that as a general matter even some of Solingen's largest companies on occasion subcontracted to specialists in areas where they lacked the expertise and/or specialized equipment. Best Regards, Fred
