I've had this buckle since the 60's and was told it was a Coastal Artillery buckle. Got it as part trade from a collector who was getting out of collecting German items ($25 tunics and $15 helmets were too much for him). Anyway, the color is a dark blue. I thought it was good, but after looking at the posts for fakes, I'm having second thoughts about the eagle's head.

Nothing wrong with this buckle, it is in fact a late war Overhoff, you do not find many of these around, in fact for me this is a great thread, a late war Assmann and Overhoff, both buckles quite hard to find

Ben,
Thanks. I've gotten so paranoid with my buckles after looking at the posts on fakes that I question a lot of them. Some I picked up in Germany in teh 80 at the ASMIT shows, some at the German "gun shows" and some I was sure were restrikes or fakes when I bought them but I needed to fill a gap in the collection. I've since moved on to other collectables, but I still enjoy going through the box of buckles.

Hey Glenn with buckles like that keep posting them
