Green Steel Kriegsmarine buckle

Hey gang....these are pretty rare beasts....in about '43 the KM buckle was changed to the blueish colour that is usually referred to as coastal artillery or late war Heer buckles. Some were used by the KM but without the use of leather tabs (discontinued in '42) it's impossible to say wether they were used by the small navy or the larger army as the KM would always use the navy acceptance stamp on the tabs.

In any case....I got a nicely used KM steel combat buckle today. I would imagine this KM would have been used in a combat related situation where you would not want to be using the gold gilt type buckles (shiny target).

Anyhoot - this is a Berg and Nolte buckle dated '41 with the KM stamp on the tab....Not sure if these are as rare as the gold box buckles - but certainly hard to find. I've FINALLY added one to my collection.
I'm as happy as a pig in sh.........well, you get my drift!
