Apart from the Imperial EK2 ribbon on the KVK the medals look like good originals. I can't hazard a guess as to the authenticity of the ribbons as the flash does them no favours.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
The top Kvk has the wrong ribbon...that looks like a repro WWI EKII ribbon, btw...The medal itself appears good.
I see no problems with the bottom award...
Thank you Adrian, you too Glenn, I will take better pictures next I see him, I knew that wasnt the right ribbon.
Two original awards
"In all my years as a soldier, I have never seen men fight so hard." - SS Obergruppenfuhrer Wilhelm Bittrich - Arnhem
wrong ribbon on cross.
The War Merit medal ribbon looks like it was ironed and the silken ribbon on the reverse glossed from it.
Its a rather nice medal.
Here is my War Merit medal. IMO every collector should have one in their collection.
The thing is Todd, that ive managed to make a couple of good deals, actually he knows far less of what he claims (he sold me some decent original medals thinking they were reproductions) so I can save a few bucks. I respect your choice of dealing only with honourable dealers but sadly sometimes I dont have a choice due to the fact that I live in an army-less country like Costa Rica, so getting hold on some good militaria gets tricky. Also, if in doubt I ask the more knowledgeable: the members of the WRF
