Hello and welcome.
The case looks original but I'm really unsure about the KVK. The reverse set up is not one I recognise or identify to a maker. Hopefully some of the other members can give their thoughts.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

Its difficult to pin point the maker as the pin set up is unusual.by atgstg

I'm wondering if the pin and hinge is a later replacement for a damaged or broken one? It appears not to have been gilded when the award was made, and the greenish colour around the hinge suggests to me that it is verdigris produced in the re-brazing or soldering process from the application of heat and/or the use of flux that is neccessary during the process.
Perhaps better photo's of the original (I think) catch may go a little way to helping I.D. the maker?

It's not as if it's rare. There's plenty more out there without any potential issues you know. Better get one that is considered a 100% original would be my advice, then you've got no worries!
