    Default War Merit Cross

Hi, I started collecting medals casually a few years ago and have recently got back into it. I found I have a War Merit Cross with Swords which I'm not sure of authenticity on.
It has no makers mark on the ring but I've read that apparently not all did. It's in quite good condition and is of the bronzed type. Were copies more commonly this type or moreso silvered? Is there any way of telling on this medal if no maker stamps are present?

Some minor things I've noticed is the "1" of "1939" has no feet, something which the earlier crosses seemingly had. The leaf pattern around the centre isn't too well defined like on some I've seen but then not all genuine ones seem to be sharp either...

    Thanks if anyone can help!

Thanks for the all the opinions and especially the pic! Appreciated.
Yes I can see your one has quite a bit of pitting all over it, esp in the centre, and the arms of the swords aren't as cleanly attached to the cross. Are the silvered type more often copied?
I got a bargain all those years ago then!!
    Thanks again all

Good one. These are not faked too often. They are out there though. Most are very easy to spot. I am afraid with the new book out on Merit Crosses the demand will rise for these and the fakes will follow.

    Hello.
I have one too. It looks ok to me but I would like a second opinion.
So, does this looks real to you ?

It made of brass but it has no makers.
    Thank you.
