War Merit Cross First Class w/ Papers (Real or Fake?)

A collector was offering my trade of flag for his medal and paper work with it. He said the back of medal has some tarnish . I talked a dealer , showing photos , he seemed to think medal was okay , wasn't sure on the authenticity of the paperwork.

What Should I be looking for in authenticity ?

I did think it a little odd he only valued it with paper for $150-$200. However the dealer estimated the medal is worth 200-300 with the SS paper work 500-600. Which is a little odd for this kind of trade..
