I had an enjoyable day (06/06/10) visiting the Watercress steam railway in Hampshire UK. It was their annual War on the Line weekend show.
At every Station along the way were separate displays. That ranged from wartime cooking and gardening 'Digging for victory' to a full sized Spitfire with a working Merlin engine, various vehicles and even 40's dancers and singers. Sadly I missed the Lancaster fly past the day before. Many re enactors and visitors were wearing 1940's dress and the trains and stations were busy.
It was very evocative of the period I'd recommend it to anyone able to visit next year.
Here are some pic's of some very good displays.
