Default 1940 - Hugo Lang, Wiesenthal

Well, I looked at this Luftwaffe buckle long and hard for sometime and eventually decided to add it . Nice 2nd pattern, aluminum buckle with excellent 1940 LBA marked leather tab, and very nicely maker marked on the backside. Ben and I reviewed photos of this buckle some weeks back, and it took 4+ weeks to arrive from Germany - glad it finally landed here

A very nice buckle and the mark in the leather is as deep and crisp I have ever seen.

Any ideas on perhaps the best way to remove the black stain on the backside? If I even dare try

I'd leave it be...It adds character ..... Just like coins.... "Never clean coins or relics" IMO..

Agree Ben, when I saw this one I knew it had to be a keeper...thanks for your arm twisting . For me, HJ buckles are interesting and so fun to collect. But I think I like the Luft buckles the most, just the design, eagles etc. I will post an updated Luft buckle group pic soon
