Luftwaffe Belt Buckle: Odd eagle? Authentic?

Hi, all. My friend just bought this buckle and emailed me these 2 photos. Is it just me or is the eagle's head a bit odd? I actually think (and maybe it's just the photo he sent) that it looks a little like a gerbil's head. He spent $55.00 on it and when I gave him my novice opinion he starting having buyer's remorse. He was told it was original...what do you guys think?

I could be wrong, but I do not like the prongs at first sight.
Some additional pics would help.
There are a lot of different eagles, nearly each maker has it's own form.
However, let's wait what the fellow collector will tell.

looks like a fake to me,,,i would tell him to try to get his money back if possible,...

Adam, it COULD be original, I am not saying it is but it might be, the square ears at the rear say to me maker Dr Franke but like the guys have said better pics would be needed to confirm anything. There is also a fake with square ears.
