    Default Luftwaffe with Dransfield tab

Recent purchase - steel buckle but not as heavy or sharp as my only other steel luftwaffe buckle. Last pic is the buckle I am camparing to. Neither buckle has makers marks on back...though there is a slight mark on the dransfield tab'd buckle that could be a "D".

Joe, the buckle is a typical Dransfeld made buckle, if you look in the Luftewaffe database there is one or two in there, look at the catch, quite easy to spot really

The tab appears to be on backwards. I read in a thread of a similar buckle/tab configuration that this could indicate a repro buckle with original tab. So my curiosity got best of me and since the threading did not look complete i pulled on the tab a bit and found that it had been apart and glued. Can you tell if this was a period move from the glue type? There is also some letters printed inside. With this being discovered can we still say the buckle is original? I believe there is a strike of a D near roundel/under clasp. Hope I did not make many cringe by my opening up the tab.
    thanks
    Joe

Joe, the buckle is a Dransfeld made buckle for sure and if the tab says Dransfeld then bingo The only thing I would say they could have been bought together as a separate tab and buckle then someone glued them together but at the end of the day mate thats one thing we will never know and you have a Dransfled buckle and tab together I am sure all can make up their own conclusions

This buckle was recently purchased at a fairly good price... $50.00 U.S.
However it is not maker marked and quite resembles an Assman & Sohn I currently own.
I know there were different die strikings depending on manufactures. Any clues ??
    Thanks in advance...
