Question on Luftwaffe belts

Hello everyone, simple question, should Luftwaffe belts be brown? I want to put a belt on this buckle but only have black ones in my collection at the moment- any advice appreciated. I can find examples of Luftwaffe buckles with black belts but I dont know if they were issued or used like this, my reference books all seem to show brown belts.

I believe early Luft belts were brown but later in war I think everything was issued black or dyed black (I think)
