Unit marked LW drop tail buckle

Article about: Thanks Rob.

Default Unit marked LW drop tail buckle

Hey gang! Now this has to be the most marked up buckle I've ever seen....no kidding! There's lots of info on this one so I just had to have it. The fact that it's a rare crank catch drop tail example only adds to the pleasure of having it in my collection.
I added this one to my collection a couple weeks ago! A keeper for sure!
After some research - here's what I can make out of the markings:

Looks like one of the units based at Ansbach was I/KG 355. That would be "Kampfgewschwader 355" or "combat wing 355".
So I think it's safe to say that is the unit this buckle was issued to.
The St. 2 would stand for 2nd squadron (2/355). This unit flew He.111 bombers.

I love having the history behind pieces like this! Now - if I could only get it to talk!

Hey Rob, really nice buckle, it has it all crank catch, early droop tail and unit marked, does not get much better than that

This is a very nice Luftwaffe buckle...congrats....
With a prewar brown chocolate belt, it would be even nicer...

Hi Chaps, I thought I'd add my latest to this thread. As you can see it's in great condition & looks like the type made by Assmann, Cheers, Richard.
