It arrived today. It has got some rust but overall condition is OK, I'm very happy with it.
The frog and scabbard has obviously been together forever. I can not move it at all !! It's a very tight fit. I'm sure that it's a K98's frog. You can see in my pictures that it has opened a bit at the bottom. Also the hole at the front, is made bigger for it to fit. On the back is a makers mark, that I can't figure out. Also a date is stamped on the back, I think it's 1937. How long where these bayonets in use ?
The RLM-stamp looks genuine too.
The ball at the end of the scabbard, has got "50" stamped on one side and "883." on the other, any thoughts on the stamps ?

Glad you got it !
Not sure how long these were in service with the Luftwaffe but they were certainly still used in 1943.
Thanks Richie. Great picture
Thanks Richie. Great picture
Do you have more pics of the Butcher in wear (WWII) ?
Nice !
Thanks !
RLM marked S98/05 are not for the Luftwaffe... (how has this create??? ) ... there were used by SHD and Wach- und Sicherungsdienst of the Luftschutz. The Luftschutz stands under the control of the RLM.
Quite an example!!..Thanks for sharing!

Nice early Luftwaffe 98/05 these are getting difficult to find never were that many. George Wheeler in Seitengewher has a lot on them as already mentioned. timothy
