If it were real, it would have gone for much much more - Remember ..........Everyone's an Expert.... A "Has Been"(EX) "drip under pressure" (Spurt)

You did well to avoid it

Over time I've seen some "experts" who are either full time or occasional dealers, who have a "project" in mind, and buy items like this just this for the parts. The parts then being used with whatever they have available to them to create new combinations of daggers (or swords etc.) to maximize their profits. And/or they may have a specific less informed customer or customers in mind who automatically accept their word that an item is completely legitimate.

Either way they win - because the only way it comes back to bite them is if the items later come back on the open market and are found to be fakes - and the sellers are exposed as frauds. And when that happens, it casts a bad light on the hobby for the new guys who are just starting, and maybe even some of the long time collectors who trusted some of the "experts" who were more interested in the money. Best Regards, Fred
