Fake Luftwaffe Sword?

Article about: I think this may well be a Spanish made sword c.1985-95. The 'Gaeflen' maker mark looks terrible in the pic and lacks more script and/or logo. Can you tell if the pommel Swastika is anodised

    Default Fake Luftwaffe Sword?

I purchased this, and have reason to believe it's fake.

Thanks for the quick response. The photos I posted were the ones from the auction. I'll see what I can do in the way of better pictures.
What particular areas should I concentrate on?
The only makers mark visible is the Gaeflen on the blade hear the crossguard.

Did you buy this off the icollector site? Googled the maker's name and all I found were the same pics you show from the auction.
Don't really know much about swords and daggers, so cannot tell you much, but I have strong doubts. The item looks very new to me too.

I guess it would be a good thing to look at the general details on the sword. The oak leaves on the pommel in example. It does not look as sharp as this one in the link, but it's hard to tell from the pics.

No, I just bought it at an on-line auction. Like an idiot. Of course, no return option, so I guess I'm stuck with it.
It looks virtually brand new. The leather smells old, but that doesn't mean squat.
At least I can hang it with my (Genuine) autographed Adolph Galland print.

It looks far to fresh. What you have is basically a mint sword if it's real which I highly doubt it is not then it would be worth mega pesos.

Looks too new to take over 70 years old, i'm not a expert but IMO this maker marking is a bit suspect.

    Cheers

I'm old enough to know better. Live and learn. As I said, it will make an interesting decoration for my Galland framed print. Expensive lesson. I let my greed and enthusiasm override my common sense.

Looks like the makers mark is engraved.....shouldn't it be stamped?
