A little unusual in that it has neither maker code or date, But definitely a good Lw piece!
Can't find the good photo, but mine is marked hat over 1942/Lw proof.

Highly unlikely that these markings are on this style of knife.

    Thumbs up

Looked at the boot knife when I set up my WW 2 display at the gun show this past weekend and found out that I had misremebmbered!
    NO Lw proof.

Anyway, IMO not an legit one with the marking "hat over 1942", sry ! ...

Please, show us images of your knife.
If it´s an Infanteriemesser 42 actually, "hat", (Gebrüder Gräfrath), was one of the manufacturers.

Regardless of who might say otherwise, I'm Positive mine is an original. I've had it for 35 or 40 yrs.
Not a good close up, but all I have. Here it is with a miniature Lw salesman sample. You can almost make out the markings.

    Hi Sarge,
I'm definitely not a combat knife expert, but is that a Heer issued knife you posted rather than a Luftwaffe Kampfmesser?

That is correct, it is an Infantriemesser 42 therefore the markings are acceptable.

Can't make out any markings from the pic but the knife looks fine.
