    Default Luftwaffe Close Combat Knife

    Hi All,

I have been looking at a close combat / boot knife and wanted to know the difference between the variants. The picture attached is a knife advertised as a Wehrmacht close combat knife and also another the same has been listed as a WW2 army trench knife, but I have seen this example also described as a Luftwaffe knife as it was mainly used by the German air force. Can anyone give me some info on these please

Typically Luft. and should have a stamp with a Luft. 5 eagle, Luft. 6 eagle , S, or W.
As far as I know these were actually issued to Luft. but were also used by others.

Here are a couple shots of mine with the Luftwaffe Marking Ralph mentions stamped into blade. People refer to them as a Boot Knife, Trench Knife & Close Combat Knives.

Gents thanks for showing these great knives!
I would like to have a sticky for these close combat knives, as they are highly faked and good reference material is not easy to get without the proper books.
Good detailed pics will do the talking, completed with weight and exact size, that would realy be a great help to the collecting community!

    Regards,
    Ger

At least I know that this is a barn find - I bought it off the farmer whose cottage I stayed in on holiday in the Ardennes about 20 years ago. It had been used for years cutting twine and then sat on the window sill of one of his outbuildings.
