    the waffenampts indicate mauserwerk.obendorf
shame that they are badly deactivated
allso they should for that date ie the last year foe the manufacture of the po8 have wood grips
the bacolite grips where replacements found mostely on re worked wwi refurbished po8s from about 44 onwards so i believe ????
still i believe becouse they are so badly deactivated they are worth no where near the asking price,, ian

i have studied the pictures very closely
and both are russian capture / refurbished ,,, lower prise to start
    badly deactivated ,,even lower price
bacolite grips do not match manufacture dates ,and i believe them to be russian manufacture replacements
all in all not good for that money ,,not good at all cheers ian

by the way the numbers 42 allso indicate mauserwerk, obendorf ,, no p08s were made after 1941
manufacture of the p38 in vast numbers took over after 1941
but by 1944 when things went tits up the refurbishment of old po8s started in ernest
thats when the bacolite grip started to apear
but few if any 1930s to 1941 po8s had them fitted
thats what makes me believe they are russian refits
allso the grips on the second po8 , the patern is not usual for a po8
if it is??? german it is very unusual
but the strait , up down design of the grips is to me very russian
so all evidence i believe is russian capture and russian refurbished
and completely screwed up by extremely bad deactivation oh well cheers ian

    Hi Paulus.
Not to upset him, but just about all of Ians facts were off. With this in mind I would take his comments lightly. I am not an expert on anything ,but WWII Luger collecting has become a passion. I would pick # 2, It seems like a decent example. I can not comment on the price because I buy live original condition examples. #1 has a bad finish and a bad side plate. The side plate ,to a collector, is one of the most important parts of the gun .Get a nice set of original grips and you are in business.
    Cheers,
    Jason
