Finding relics in Russian shops
All,
Great forum.
I go to Russia occasionally and am curious where would be the best place to find relics. My father in law was in Volgograd last year and wanted to bring something back for me. So he picked up a large (70mm+) artillery shell with projectile (had been deactivated) and was going to send it to me but the post office people kicked him out, lol...
So... I will just assume that the typical Russian "flea market" or street market might be a decent place to find relics but where to look?
I assume Moscow would be bad, too much construction over the years and if pieces were found they'd be more expensive there.
So that leaves Volgograd and St. Petersburg as possibilties... as far as the big cities.
I've been to Russian cities in the <10,000 population range and think it may be difficult to look around those cities.
Ukraine is less covenient for me.
Maybe Smolensk? Bryansk? Oryol? Voronezh?
Where do you look? Many fakers and con-men selling relics?
TIA!
