Every now and then you get something that you can’t pin down. I got this CCC on Sunday, and whilst at first glance it looked (and felt) ok. I am now beginning to have doubts.
    Things that are “for” it.....

    1. It has a slight convex shape
    2. Detail is good
    3. It has a correct “C” type catch
    4. It weighs 31 grams
    5. Measures 95.76mm and 25.66mm
    6. It’s made of zinc

I know that the back plate is not the correct one, as it appears to have been glued in, but against it

    1. Only one part of a makers mark, similar to FLL but missing the FLL mark, no “cranked” pin
    2. I cannot pin down the type of crimp on the back.
    3. It's that makers mark that keeps throwing me

In conclusion. I thought it was ok but now…….I am confused?

Joe, can you elaborate for me. I thought I knew my CCC's but this one has me foxed.

Unfortunately I see it as a cast fake. No shear marks to the sides...

It´s an cast fake, based on a fake die struck clasp.

The obverse design of this fake clasp can you often find on a well known copy. It´s an fantasy design and have nothing to do with an authentic design compared with the known makers of ccc´s.

Backplate and backplate crimping is bad to the bone too......the same with the catch and maker mark!
