I recently scooped up a two pack of East German leather belts from sportsman’s guide. As is with surplus sites, the exact specifics of the items you’ll receive are unknown. One belt was unissued, and the other had definitely seen some use.
When I inspected the more worn example I was both happy and frustrated. Inside the belt I found a good deal of writing. It appears to me that the soldier this was issued to wrote down his name, the places he served, and even the time frame of his service in pen.
Here comes the frustrating part!
At some point somebody scribbled over the writing with another pen. My guess is that this was done when the belt was turned back in, as they intended to reissue it to someone else. It’s hard for me to read the writing, but here is a bit of what I can see.

I can semi read the other bits, but unfortunately they’re too covered. Maybe some
of you guys can take a guess at what the rest of the writing may say?
Any tips on what I could do to possibly make the writing a bit more clear?
Best regards- Jarret
