    And a lovely example it is to Rene and one I need to add to my own collection still.
    IMO the date stamp appears to be a 59

    Found a Canadian Mk II Medics Helmet and yes I know they are about as rare as hens teeth !!!!!

    LOL I am glad I am not the only one that has to trade in kind with the wife for helmet's last couple cost me a $600.00 dollar dog for the wife.

    I have one with the same month and year as yours! nice find.

    NAMIBIA: People's Liberation Army of Namibia training in Angola, circa 1983 is shown wearing EG helmets in the B&W photo.

    These would have been used in some African civil wars , bush wars

    Thanks reneblacky, my M56 came directly out of East Germany to my house in the US, the seller says they found it up in the attic of their relatives home.

    yes, yours probably came out of the same factory , same production lot as this one in my collection.

    Here's another same year & month that arrived today, bit of an odd ball as it has been modified to fit the latter type liner
