    These are either artillery or Stasi. The problem is, that these two types have a very similar color, and the camera can sometimes alter the color slightly...so for me it's difficult to say. Not to mention fabric sometimes changes color as it ages, depending on how it is stored. Unfortunately I can't tell for sure unless I could somehow handle them. Enlisted boards are generally easier to distinguish, but with officer ranks, it gets harder to see the difference in the shade of red.

    Generally speaking though, Stasi boards are supposed to be of a darker red, while artillery boards are of a brighter red.

    Blitzvogel, thank you for your answer. I will continue to search epaulets of Stasi, but I want to present my last collection replenishment.questions about DDR itemsquestions about DDR items.

    Here's a couple of Stasi boards for reference. Can be tricky to differentiate as Joel has written.

    Hi BaLaGan,

    Please post seperate items in seperate threads. That way it is easier to refer back to each item, you will get more and better replies and members will be able to better understand questions etc.
    You have been a member since 2015 so I would have thought you would know this?

    For now, the spange is a grade III Klassifizierungsabzeichen fuer Panzerfahrer und Fahrer von Schuetzenpanzern BMP 1963 - 85 (Tank and APC drivers). The background to the tank should be gloss black.

    The badges with the USSR and DDR flags are international friendship badges, a souvenir type thing and not specifically military. These were certainly in use at the end of the DDR.

    The bar with the German colours and the four Staatswappen I am not sure about but I think it could be an unofficial "Interimsspange" for the long service medal probably worn on civilian clothing. As I say I am not sure about that so maybe anoth member knows for certain.

    I hope this helps

    Regards

    The bar is for four awards of the medal "Kollektiv der sozialistischen Arbeit" [Collective of Socialist Labour].

    I had a long think about this and searched my old "Berlin junk" box and I think this is;

    Mehrfachverleihungen der Auszeichnung Kollektiv der sozialismus or "multiple award of the Excellence of the Socialist Collective" or something like that. So, not military (which explains why it isn't at the front of my mind. I have seen them before though they never fell within my collecting interest) but part of the ephemera of the regime.

    I hope this helps
