    Hey Everyone,

I only have this NVA field cap - size 58 - pretty much unissued - I had this for the last 15 years in my closet, stuck between my baseball hats, and I just found it!
I know, that it's not a rare or expensive item, but hey; it's a start, right?

Just recently, I got into "cold war" stuff - and I did PROMISE myself that I will only focus on Hungarian stuff - I think I'll get some NVA items as well... (M56 helm, etc. )

I partly grew up in Hungary when I was a kid (1978 - 1988) behind "iron curtain", and I always thought that all "socialist countries" had basically the same Soviet clone uniforms, but I just looked at some of the NVA stuff and it's more like "Third Reich" style - just a different logo...some really neat items.
I'll post, when I get more stuff...
    Cheers,
    Fabe

I think you are off to a great start! I also don't really have anything that could be considered rare or overly expensive, but I enjoy my collection very much. And for me anyway that's what counts.

Fabe...that's a nice cap, in great condition, like the Bundeswehr items they are the collectables of tomorrow..get them now they are cheap, because in the future they can only go up, now the Cold War has gone into the history books...keep on showing.... Hagen, you have an impressive DDR medal collection !
    Prost ! Steve.

Hi Reibert this is a first for me I have never seen this particular piece of kit before are there any DDR/NVA markings and or stamps on the inside .
This is a very interesting piece of kit and looks to be the second type of Strichmuster pattern that they started to produce in 1968 it was also produced for export and worn in Africa by insurgent groups particularly in Angola and South West Africa I wonder if it was produced for export .

    Regards Mark K
mark the jacket hood /veil that reibert shows in his post is exactly the same as fitted to my m56 i believe it was commonly used that way ,regards james Show us your NVA items!Show us your NVA items!Show us your NVA items!

    Hey Everyone,

Biding for this one (and will probably win it):

Kampfgruppen der Arbeiterklasse, KdA field cap (1968 type)

Probably not as common as the "NVA" field cap of this same type...

    Cheers,
    Fabe

Some nice items you have gotten there James.....I bet you have more NVA than BW now ! Fabe, I like the field cap, the photograph to support the post is super, I like to see photographic evidence of use of an item, I feel it brings the item "alive" !
