Unknown DDR Mdi visor 1962

I have had this 1962 dated visor for quite a while(technically got it in a bundle for £6) however it had its original cockade replaced with later East German air force cockades. Hence the two very faint holes at the top for the propeller/wings.
I replaced the cockade with what i think was a correct one. However i still haven’t been able to determine what branch. Mainly considering the piping. I looked through stonemints thread for an idea and search Mdi visors and couldn’t come up with anything

The piping colour is almost the exact same as the visor itself. Weird

OK i'm not 100% sure here but i think your cap should have the airforce type insignia it came with, i think it's a Hubschraubereinheit visor, that is a Transportpolizei helicopter unit.

I thought the airforce would of still had bullion at that point?

Like i said mate i'm not sure, maybe an earlier cap with later insignia?

An oddity. But I will go hunt down the old insignia.

Some more MDI caps currently on eBay De. All three have different coloured piping.

Whats it listed as?

Edit- Not a complete match my one lacks those little ventilation holes

Forget the Hubschraubereinheit idea John, after looking into it more their visor caps had slightly paler blue piping.
