I'd humbly suggest not starting with SS militaria. It's by far the most widely faked and difficult facet to get into, and an absolute minefield for even veteran collectors, as many of them here will gladly tell you.
You'd be better off starting somewhere else, where fakes are less prevalent and where things are not so expensive. Better to start small until you start to get a feel for the hobby, and then work your way up as you grow in confidence and knowledge.

Welcome to the forum, and good luck.

    Regards, B.B.

Some honest advice, from someone who has only recently started collecting themselves.

    * To start with, stick to reputable dealers. Even if it costs more, it's worth the provenance. You'll be paying a premium of about 20% percent more, e.g. if you bought from another collector., but it's worth that security, especially when just starting out. Once you get comfortable enough, you can start to venture out into the 'wild' of auction sites and other such places.

    * Don't worry about specialising to start with. Collect what makes you happy, but stick to the safer, more reputable dealers. You'll find your collection's focus narrows over time, however large or small that focus may be. As you amass more militaria, you'll start to get a feel for what you like and what you don't. You may even get to a point where you sell unwanted items and turn them into better ones.

    * If you're ever the slightest bit unsure of a prospective purchase, post it here first. As long as you're polite and respectful, you'll get all the help you could ever wish for. We all share the same passion here, and helping new collectors is something near and dear to the hearts of many long-time members.

    * A bit of a caveat on some of the previous points, but whatever you do, stay away from SS militaria of all kinds until you've gained more knowledge and experience. It's a very, very dangerous area to invest in, and is crawling with very well made fakes which occasionally fool even the most experienced in the field. Everything is faked, from medals and badges to uniform buttons.

    * Above all, enjoy yourself. That's what this hobby is about, after all. We wouldn't be spending outrageous amounts of money on this stuff if we weren't having fun doing it. It adds to the ethos of collecting what makes you happy.

I wish you good luck, and hope there aren't too many more fakes in your collecting future!

    Regards, B.B.

Thanks B.B for your advice I did purchase reichsbahn eagle book by saris and wall plaques book and bought a lovely eagle from Medamilitaria, yeah sure its piece of mind when you buy from a dealer and great service but I am trying to buy from collectors now to keep cost down and its not working out well so looks like its back to dealers if these two items are fake

You're off to a good start, then! It's always good to build up a reference library as a supplement to your own growing knowledge. I'm guilty myself of not having one, but have muddled along so far without picking up any fakes.

Once your account has been approved, if it hasn't been already, this should help you with uploading photos: https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/technical-design-questions-how-advice/visual-guide-upload-photos-676381/
