    Default SA/NSDAP armwinkel tag question

I have this gefreiter armwinkel for either an SA or NSDAP mann.

I really only bought it for the interesting RZM tag.

This has what I suspect to be the original price marked on it? The question is: I see a '15' then a bracket, a dash then a '30'. Now I can understand the winkel costing 30 pfennig way back when but i consider that an average weekly salary for the majority of Germans was around 50 marks in 1939 I can't imagine a mere armwinkel costing 15 mark 30 pfennig.

Perhaps more experienced members can enlighten me as to the nature of the markings? Also the maker number '21' is curious to me, is this maker known?

    Cheers
    Glenn

    Hi Glenn-
I can not comment on the markings. However, I can tell you that this is an Alter Kampfer winkel worn by S A and
N S K K members. This insignia was not worn by NSDAP members and does not denote a rank.

So this is an honor chevron for the 'old fighters'?

Correct. It was short lived and replaced in 1934 by service tresse on the cuffs for the SA and a new insignia for the NSKK depecting a winkel with NSKK eagle above it.

Hersteller number 21 was Richter & Rohrlapper located in Brandenburg.

    Thankyou Gentlemen!

Being short lived and pre 1934, does this make my example rare compared to regular service armwinkels? I think I paid around $60.

The RZM permit number was granted to that maker in 1934 so this would have to be made in that year if the tag is original to the item. I don't know the exact date of when this was replaced with the sleeve stripes but possibly after the permit was issued by the RZM.

Good information but the markings on the tag are confusing. I can't believe they are a price of 15RM 30 pfennig.
