I get the Wolfsangel, but is there a particular story as to why they chose the symbol of the 'Stormvogel,' beyond the obvious that is?
It is very elegant and striking IMO BTW

The next of kin of the N.S.B members who fell serving with the Dutch forces in Russia received a commemorative plaque to commemorate or honour those volunteers who had fallen in action on the Eastern Front.
I have two in a collection so I can offer to exchange or sale.

It was given to the family of fallen SS soldiers.

His Names were mentioned in an NSB yearbook.

Or in other magazines such as "the black soldier" ( de Zwartesoldaat )

Allow me to try.
I am speaking here for the Flemish, but I think there is a parallel story a that point between Flemish and Dutch.
That bird "stormvogel" meaning literaly "tempest bird" is only seen when tempest is in action.
And "tempest" is seen here as "trouble", "war", "up rising".
The Flemish nationalist yought group also uses that kind of bird in songs and emblems.
