I was asked by a colleague whether these men were SA or SS, to which I replied they were NSDAP Pol Leiter. Please correct me, Bob, Wim, Andreas and all....
I assume these men are more or less dressed in this uniform? at right here and this epoch being the months after the seizure of power....

(One man in the foreground and some in the background of the first photo appear to be SA men, though; but the prominent ones - wearing "L"-shaped collar patch Tresse, sleeve diamonds etc. - are all PLs.)

The ones burning the flag are indeed political leaders.
The man far right does wear a function diamond upon his arm.
This is not the form with the eagle. He has a low rank and for that
he wears a leather chin strap with his kepi. At far left this person
does wear cords with his kepi. The SA never did.
The uniform worn is as to according "Entwurf der Dienst-Vorschrift
der Politische Organisation" from July 15, 1932. The worn forms
of diamonds are noted in this booklet with the pages 53 through 55 as for:
Stabswalter der PO, Stabswalter der Reichsorganisationsleitung,
Fraktionsführer und Abgeordnete.
