I'm new here. I have this sleeve triangle that I am having a hard time finding information on. I got it from the estate of an olympiad from the 1936 olympics. His name is William "Bill" Good. It is not really a "bevo" type triangle. The backside has a white cloth lining. It has residue from being glued into a photo album. The white material does not glow under blacklight, nor does the glue. I have posted a picture of it several places and have gotten a couple of different responses. Some feel it is not T.R. period at all and someone said they think it is from the warm up type suits the atheletes wore. I just don't know. Has anyone seen this type of patch before?
The patch does not have the look or embroidery style of a 1936 period German patch. Possibly it was from the 1972 Munich Games or one of the post war Winter Olympics.

Thanks for your reply and your opinion of the patch Bob. I am going to put it in with some of my other unknown stuff and maybe someday I will find out what it is for.
Interesting photos of the triangle in wear at the 1936 Berlin games. Some nice video footage as well that shows the triangle very clearly. Apparently the Jugend Ehrendienst served as escorts of sorts to participants in the games, assisting them as needed. Also a photo to show the size is quite large when compared to an HJ Gebiet triangle. Note how large it appears to be on the boys arm in the photo.

Proof positive that this is a period patch. I would presume that very few of these were ever made. Even after 65 years, new items can come in to the collector market that all of us can learn from.

I'm a little late to the party on this one, but I've been doing some research on this badge. I believe it is genuine but for the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki. The German equestrian fundraising committee seemed to issue these badges for a number of different Olympics regardless of whether they were held in Germany, they did issue one for 1936 but it is a different design. For some reason the 1952 badge is constantly mistaken as the 1936 version.
