Why would there be a crown on a third reich item?

Why not a crown for a veteran group? I think this is a Hassia commemorative pin. K.P. Emig had one for sale.

Actually, for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Veterans' Association Hassia [Kriegerkameradschaft Hassia], which was founded in Eichzell in 1874.

A large and important association that even had its own youth section, It became the official state veterans' league for the Grand Duchy of Hesse and the Hessian territories and maintained a degree of independence even after it had joined the Kyffhäuserbund.

Of course - the armistice was signed in 1871 so this was to commemorate the founding of the veteran organization. I stand corrected! Such is the depth of knowledge with our peers on this site. Well done! Neil
