[QUOTE=Metallwarenfabrik;773877]Hi Saladin, Ade "may" not be right, he IS! SS-Zivilabzeichen were only made by Hoffstätter and Gahr, and numbered. There is plenty of information about these in the early RZM announcement papers. Any ss-civil stickpin that is not marked by Hoffstätter or Gahr, is a

From what i can see so far, lots of what you have is not genuine If you could show the reverse of the HJ badges?

    Hello,
thank you for your expert input.
    It was very enlightening.
As I mentioned earlier in the thread these badges have sat languishing framed up in the attic since at the latest 1992...even a few years before. The tiny catalogue numbers that are on them date most of them back to the early 80s with a few coming from the late 60s and 70s. A long time before information was so readily and widely available to us collectors.
I remember a time when S&L Knight’s Crosses were £20 made from the original dies and the numbered tank battle badges that flooded Britain in the 70s and 80s and sold by a particular unscrupulous dealer as from a genuine newly discovered hoard. I have no doubt these are sat in collectors cases being touted or thought of as originals.
I don’t have a problem with the badges that were in the frame...With my new found internet and collecting experience I know there are a few fake badges in amongst the collection but they are now bagged up and will go back to their resting place for perhaps another 20 years.

I would not be intending to sell any of the badges, they don’t owe me anything and I have no interest in parting with any of them.

I started this thread as I thought it may be of interest to some readers to see what is sitting about in people’s attics.

    All the best
    Doug

This particular badge was sent to me by Chris Ailsby back in 1986
