Can anyone help with this NSFK badge

Greetings guys , i was given this a few years ago and have always wondered just what its purpose was , i know its to do with the flying corps before the war , but thats about it . As you can see its been stamped number 39 , any ideas , would be good to know its place , cheers Raymond

NSFK NATIONAL FLYING COMPETITON for both pilots and ground control personnel of competition, signature of NSFK Kopsfuhrer, Christiansen. I have seen numbers up to 7000, so 39 must be an early one. Thanks for showing.
