    Hello all,

I am not doubting that this piece is authentic, just not the type I am familiar with. Can anyone show a cockade such as this on a cap, or perhaps even in a period photograph?

is this just some kind of pre-RZM cockade, maybe a very early pattern or something like that?

    See catalogue from F.W. Assmann. Article-number 22580,
page 44: Strassen- und Privatbahn -pattern cockade.
Further this cockade is mentioned also in other cataloques as
Strassenbahn, for example Friedrich Linden, article-
number 5198, page 9. As such it was in a 1935-version and in
    the 1939-version cataloque!

    Hello William,

I checked my Strassenbahn-photographs, which is quite a lot.
With none of them I could find the cockade being worn, just a normal cockade
and so I think this typical cockade was merely in use by Privatbahn or Kleinbahn.
To find photos from that is very difficult.

But the cataloques say definitively it is Strassenbahn-Privatbahn and or Kleinbahn.
See the Assmann page (first) and second a part from a page from a Wilhelm Deumer
    cataloque from 1937:
