    I have seen a number of Edelweiss on HJ,BDM and DJ uniforms over the years..hats, collars even on a belt. Photo of Die Edelweißpiraten, not HJ but a great photo

    Has anyone ever seen a Hitler Youth (HJ) wearing a metal Edelweiss on their shirt collar like this photo?

    It is just according to regulation. The Edelweiss has the variation-form for Austrian units and should be worn upon the lapel
    of the right collar. So, in Austria the wearing of this Edelweiss is quite common. The form he is wearing is NOT for Hochland.

    The description for the Woolgar-photo is not correct! In my "Handbook of the Hitler-Jugend" you can find various photos
    of wearing Edelweiss-forms (for example page 101 - Hochland; 121 -Niederdonau; 122 -Oberdonau; 124 - a girl from Steiermark;
    126 - Salzburg and so on).

    Hi Nick, have you got any more information about the badge with no stem on the middle row of that picture, second from the right?
    Regards,
    James.

    It should as it is regulation for Austrian units! Sorry, I already
    answered this. See post 24!
