    Hello,
    I have never seen that kind of shield too, it looks different from the type showed on period photos.

    I don't mean it to be a fake.

    On this period shot we can see that it is a multipiece construction and the title "Nederland" is hand embroidered.

    I own one of those, as soon as possible I will make some pictures of it.

    regards,

    Max

    I don't doubt that there were any number of construction methods used including multi-construction or bevo weave. I would love to see photos of your piece.

    Hello,
    I think yours can be the german pattern.

    Here is mine, it has some differences from the one showed in period pictures.

    regards,

    Max

    P.S..for real, the red is a very dark orange.

    Just new to this forum maybe I can give some details to a subject I like.

    The information is from the RAD Verordnungsblatt from May 13, 1944.
    These patches officially were introduced to be worn by course-participants at
    RAD schools. Since spring 1944 authorized to wear the mentioned:
    Flandern with indication V.A.V.V. (Vrijwillige Arbeidsdienst voor Vlaanderen';
    Kroatien with indication Hrvatzka (this means Croatia);
    Niederlande with the indication Nederland (this means Niederlande);
    Norwegen with the indication Norge
    The Rumanians did wear another form, which had the indication MTR, which
    in fact means Munca Tineretului Roman.
    these patches were worn at the left upper arm. No swastika brassard was to be worn.

    It was especially mentioned that the earlier worn cuffbands were no longer allowed
    to be worn. If I do find more information I will let you know. It is of course possiblt that
    the one or the other manufacturer did understand the order wrong and so embroidered
    Niederlande instead of Nederland. Such things often happened.
