    It says:

"To the Gau Legal Officer Dr. Weyrich
for faithful work in the NSRL
    The Sports Gau Leader

    [signed]
    SA-Obergruppenführer"

NSRL was the Nationalsozialistischer Reichsbund für Leibesübungen (National Socialist Reich League for Physical Education), the German umbrella organization for sports.

The only noteworthy Third-Reich era Dr. Weyrich I can find was Professor Günther Weyrich, an Austrian-born forensic pathologist and SS-Obersturmbannführer who was the head of the insitute for forensic medicine and criminology of the Karls-University at Prague. He was one of the two physicians who conducted the autopsy of Reinhard Heydrich.

I do not know whether he was involved or indicted in war crimes (the standard references list nothing to this effect), but he continued his career post-war, establishing a new pathological institute at the Freiburg University Hospital in 1954 and heading it until he retired in 1966.

I don't think that this is the same Dr. Weyrich, since the title of "Gaurechtswart" (Gau Legal Officer) would imply a jurist and Doctor of Laws rather than a physician.

Thank you for the great knowledge.
would this Dr. Weyrich have moved to the USA after the war?
is this award common ? and what would you put for resale
or insurance value on such a piece. i have looked into a lot of award
books but have never seen this one.
    thank you

Personally I don't think so, since he still worked in Germany when he retired in 1966. (I originally wrote 1960 in my above post; sorry for the typo.)
I have only very little biographical data on Prof. Günther Weyrich, though, and, as I said, I suspect that the Dr. Weyrich on your item is another person altogether, so, who knows...

Sorry, I really have no idea and cannot comment on that.

Please bear in mind that this is not an officially recognized award or national prize but more of an unofficial honor gift/presentation item presented in recognition of rendered services.
