I just bought this pin, but didn't see the detail on it in the sellers pics. I have never seen one like this before. Does anyone have any ideas please? The reverse has what looks like ST??NG under the pin. Could it be a US nazi pin? Finish in the pics looks more yellow (tarnished?) that what i see, but I don't want to clean it.

I think American but with no Nazi connotations. Native American I think. Odds are the marking is "Sterling"

    Thanks Ade,

You are probably right, I forgot about the native American option - I had seen similar symbols of old rugs in a museum here.

I believe it is something to do with air/wind; they use the cross in this orientation and reversed. It is also popular in the Hindu religion.

It was silver tourist jewelry sold on route 66 in the 30's at several trading posts through New Mexico and Arizona.

I agree with the above comments, but it is interesting that it has a knurled pin.
Perhaps this was a common feature in the 1920's and 30's...........

I suppose that any and all swastika emblems in Allied countries would have
been banned or changed after WWII had begun - such as the US 45th
Infantry shoulder flash, which had previously been a swastika.

( There used to be a 'Berlin, Ontario' before WWI - It's now 'Kitchener' )
    Regards,

    Steve.

It's not surprising to see that emblem almost anywhere in the world ... less the name "Swastika" however.
In Korea I saw a little hut with one covering the entire side of the wall. I was told that a fortune teller/healer
    lived there.

I recently read that the only place in the world that there were no ancient forms found was Australia. Any truth
    to that?

BTW ... I do like the one above and would put it in my cow skull.
