Definitely not a German tunic button. Actually, it doesn't look like a tunic button at all but has a decidedly civilian appearance. Before the dawn of the Third Reich, the Swastika was frequently used in the western world - including the U.S. and Great Britain - as a "luck" symbol and of course it has a much longer history of use in Asian countries from the ancient past right up to the present day.
That would be my take on it too.
Cheers, Ade.
PS: Welcome to the forum!
Thanks for the welcome. And thankyou for the info. Id thought it more likely to have been a dress button of some kind. I.E for a play/display of some kind?
Mainly due to how clean it is rather than the actual look or design.
What your saying makes alot of sense tho i guess, Would you say it looks old enough to be pre war? Also what do you think it is? Would it be a button at all? The attatchment doesnt make it seem very usefull as one....
Probably a button for a asian womans dress or shirt. Probably pre ww2. - Nick K
Definitely not a military piece.........
As stated - a civilian button.
Regards,
Steve.
