Default NSDAP Political Cap Eagle: Authentic Piece?

Hi, guys. Just wanted to throw this out there for a quick thumbs up or down. I just acquired it in a lot with some other items and am going to re-sell it...just want to make sure it's good before I do so. It looks fine to me but I'm not good with these yet. It's RZM marked M1/17 indicating Assmann it would seem.

    Thanks, all!
    Best,
    Adam

    Hi Adam, totally original.

But I would describe it as a Postal eagle.

I have a similar one in my collection.

    Cheers, Ade.

Hi, Ade and thanks for the reply. That's very interesting...a postal eagle...meaning, I assume, for placement on the cap of a postal worker? I have seen many of these for sale here in the states and they are always referred to as "Political Cap Eagles."

    Thanks again and best regards,
    Adam

Hi Adam, yes worn on Post Office employees caps etc. I think they were also used by other State organisations.

When I got my eagle I also mistakenly thought it as political and SA. It seems to be a common error. I think the RZM contract numbers applied by the makers adds to the confusion with many collectors as it instantly makes people think "political".

    Cheers, Ade.

Hi, Ade and thank you. As always, you've been most helpful and informative Yes, I can see how it could be very confusing as the RZM M1 code was supposedly reserved for political badges and insignia.

I might just keep this piece actually. Thanks again!
    Best,
    Adam
